The visit starts by crossing the draw-bridge and entering the castle through a beautiful iron XVth century door. Bonneval is one of the few castles in France to have two draw-bridges. On the top of the first door we may see the coat of arms of the family and their motto "Victorius a tots lous hazards". It is unusual to see a motto written in the local dialect. The initials S.P.Q.R can also bee seen at this entrance, proving the family's origin that has been known since the roman occupation.
